The Six Steps towards Salvation
(I’m a Sinner, what must I do to be saved?)

1. Acknowledge your estate – Romans 3:23, and Luke 18:13.
*What does this mean in your words?

2. Repent – Luke 13:3 and Acts 3:19.
*In your own words, why is repentance important?

3. Confess – 1 John 1:9
*Are we to confess our sins to man? What is meant by this?

4. Forsake - Isaiah 55:7
*If to love God means to avoid sin; then is to forsake the same as avoid?
(To love God avoid sin, to avoid sin love God!)

5. Believe – John 3:16 and Romans 10:9
*When we say we believe!  Are we saying that we trust in the truth of that which we believe?

6. Receive – John 1:11-12
*What is it that God wants us to receive?

The relationship of God and Christ: the gift of salvation – God’s activities in bringing humans into a right relationship with God and with one another through Jesus Christ.

What We Believe

*CHURCH VISION?
-the church is a close-knit community called together to serve God. Its mission is to the world. “It is thus a people called to worship, witness, teach, and serve in the name of Christ and to be a sign of God’s kingdom.”  Vision; deals with the how we accomplish the mission (think witness).

*WHY DO PEOPLE TALK ABOUT PEOPLE BEHIND THEIR BACK AND SMILE IN THEIR FACE THE NEXT MINUTE?
-Christian maturity is a process and not given, but developed. “Further more, members are duty-bound to promote the unity and harmony of the church. Whenever human beings associate closely, tensions and conflicts arise.”  As a result we revert to secular behavior; rather than Christian behavior.

*WHEN YOU CAN’T TALK TO MISSIONARY IS IT OKAY TO TALK TO THE PASTOR?
-The Bible teaches that we should seek the counsel of God, Pastor’s, Elder’s, and of the community of faith. I say seek counsel as spirit lead, caution should always be exercised, and the Pastor is usually the best person to seek counsel from.

*WHAT RIGHTS DOES A MEMBER HAVE IN THE CHURCH?
-“church membership involves privileges as well as duties. .A member has a right to participate in the whole range of the church’s activities-its worship, witness, service, and decision making. As one who has a part in governing the church, a member has a right to be heard and to vote on any issue under consideration.”  One member one vote.

*WHY DO MEMBERS COMPLAIN ALL THE TIME; WHEN THE PASTOR ASKES THEM TO DO THE RIGHT THING?
The murmurings of God’s people, is well documented in the Bible; because people don’t want to change. People don’t want to be trained.

*HOW DO I RESPONDWHEN SOMEONE ASKS ME TO DISCUSS WHAT IS A BAPTIST AND / OR CHRISTIAN?
-Witness and what you know of Jesus; Gods salvation plan and why redemption is necessary.

*Does the Pastor pick his board?
-Acts chapter 6 speaks to the selecting of a board of deacons. I sense this isn’t what you are questing – your question is related to the selection for general officers of the church. To answer the general question – all boards are established by the authority of the Church (voted on and affirmed).  The selection of individuals to serve on boards either by nomination, or appointment must be examined and approved by the body (Maring and Hudson Chapter 4 and Chapter 7).

*Is there such a thing as a bad Christian?
-Bad and Christian as terms are conflicting. A Christian is a believer and there can be bad believers, but mostly we see bad practitioners of Christianity. Nonetheless the answer in my opinion is yes. We all make mistakes and are all sinners Remember to love God is to avoid evil (sin). And thus to avoid evil (sin) is to love God.
